Building My Dream Lifestyle

It was the beginning of a revolution in my life, the day that I learned the value of action. I had read a lot of books, studied things that I was interested in. And I was always looking for that new piece of information that would set me off. I felt like if there was just one thing that I could learn that would unlock all this potential that I knew I had inside me, then I would finally be happy.
Then a shift happened. I finally realized that all the books in the world don’t mean shit, unless their knowledge is applied with action. I discovered that ACTION is the only method in the world that actually gets things done. So I changed my focus from, “what new book should I read for X subject” to, “I want X, what actions should I take to make it my reality.
I decided that what I really want is simple:
  • A lifestyle that is open to an extremely wide range of experiences
  • An adequate financial platform with good cash flow to finance that lifestyle
  • The mental, social, and physical skills needed to engage, appreciate, and enjoy my wide range of experiences.

That is a pretty broad spectrum for what I want. But it’s a good platform that allows me to add in anything I want in the moment. Also, it is a good foundation that is possible to implement.

So with that platform in mind I went ahead and decided what actions I need to take in order to make that life a reality.
The three different parts all boil down into one thing really. My dream lifestyle and all three parts complement each other. So I can’t pick them apart because they are one. So I say again, what ACTIONS did I need to make that a REALITY.
Step One: Self Correction
I don’t really trust myself that much, I had always lacked follow through and wasn’t a particularly hard worker. So I knew I would really have to micro manage myself to get shit done. So the first step I took was to establish the religious habit of keeping a daily to-do list, every day, no matter what. With that list I am able to put any experiences I want to have on the list and then go do them, and then I fill it with ACTIONS that I need to take during the day to live my lifestyle.
Step Two: Solid Foundation
There were some things I had to do in order to have my lifestyle be as amazing as possible.

I would need to take action to generate my financial platform to finance the lifestyle. This was the EASY part. I set aside 1 hour per day where I would focus only on making more money, ways to do it, businesses to create, better money management habits, etc.

I started this (just a couple months ago) as a 19 year old, college dropout, from a low income background, with zero capital. So believe me that anyone who wants to could do the same thing.

So I set out, and am on the journey of building this financial fortress that will finance my journey through this life.

Money was the biggest deal to me so I made that priority #1. Other things that I put on my lists were:
  • Develop Amazing Social Skills with Women and Men.
  • Invest 30 minutes per day in reading.
  • Build a better body through weight lifting, cardio, diet, and proper care.
  • Setup a super awesome routine of personal hygiene and grooming.
  • Get a passport

This was my foundation that I first started with. I knew that I would continue to add things into my foundation all throughout my life so I left it open ended.

Step Three: Live in My Reality
This is the WAY WAY WAY HARD part. But i was lucky to discover how to do it. You see when I set out on this journey of having a super awesome lifestyle. I didn’t want to have a super awesome lifestyle 18 months from now. I wanted it today.
So I made it happen TODAY. Do I want to go scuba diving in Costa Rica? Sure, but not every day of my life. I’ll probably try it sometime but having the ability to go do it right now isn’t necessary for my dream lifestyle.
To fully have my dream lifestyle I do need the ABILITY to go and do it. But just because I don’t have access to that one thing right now does not mean I can’t still live my dream lifestyle.
The secret to doing it is to live in my own reality. Not the reality other people would have set for me. I take lifestyle advice from one person, ME. I do make the habit of seeking out mentors and advisors from all sorts of area’s. But I take advice in sections from people.

I might find a fitness coach to advise me on working out, but I am not going to have that person do my tax returns each year. In that same idea, I am not going to have a car salesman advise me on what company I should buy my steak from. Most people would love to be a life coach but not many are qualified and the best life coaches in the world are the ones who teach you to employ the help of specialists in their specialty and that’s it.

So that only person I take holistic advice from seriously is me. It’s my reality and I create it. I know that anything in the world I want to do, I can figure out a way to do it. Through reading, studying, experience, working with other people, etc. I can make it happen and that’s my reality.

But I believe that building a dream lifestyle happens in a day. And that day is the day you decide to put your dreams first, actions towards them second, and everything else third.
